You do not need homework to start reading comics.

Start with the story that interests you, not the history somebody told you that you are supposed to know first.

Pick a format

• Single issues are serialized stories in their original installments. Short, frequent, collectible.
• Graphic novels and collected editions gather a full arc or a longer standalone story in one book.
• Manga is usually collected in numbered volumes and read by series.

Pick an entry point

Look for volume ones, standalone stories, creator led runs, or anything clearly labelled as a jumping on point. A famous character does not mean you have to start at issue number one. Almost nobody does.
